Replacement Spring - 15cm new size only for Regular size NOT maxi pouches
Sometimes your good old trusty Treat Pouch may just give up the ghost after years of loyal service and you just can't face to part with it, well we can supply replacement parts!
This NEW replacement spring can be fitted into any Treat Pouch Regular size.
Replacement Spring closures are supplied as a singe unit.
How to Replace a Treat Pouch Spring
The picture shows a New Spring Mechanism with one hinge pin removed and another with the hinge pin in place.
Inserting or Removing the Hinge Pin is just a push fit.
In older style Treat Pouches the pin was fixed in place.
The picture above is a New Style Hinge - Note the Hinge Pin has a pointed end which protrudes below the rest of the hinge - an old style hinge pin finishes flush with the hinge.
Removing an Old Style Spring
The hardest part may be to remove the old spring - proceed with caution so as not to damage the pouch.
Using the cutting teeth on a pair of pliers, grab the top of the old hinge pin and with brute strength twist and pull. It doesn't matter if you break the hinge, but be careful not to tear the Treat Pouch.
You may need to straighten the rolled ends on the old spring to allow it to be pulled out from the webbing sleeve of your Treat Pouch.
Removing a New Style Spring
Press the pointed end of the Hinge Pin against a hard surface (select a hard surface which won't mark), push down hard so the pin pops up out from the hinge.
With pliers, hold the top of the Pin and pull it out from the Hinge.
You may need to straighten the rolled ends on the old spring to allow it to be pulled out from the webbing sleeve of your Treat Pouch.
Fitting the New Spring Mechanism
Take the new Spring and push out one of the hinge pins - You do this by pressing the pointed end against a hard surface until the pin pops out from the Hinge, then with some pliers hold the pin and pull it out from the hinge.
Now slide the Replacement Spring into the webbing sleeves of the Treat Pouch, push it all the way in, then align the 2 sides of the open Hinge and insert the pointed end of the Hinge Pin back into the hinge.
Press the pin into the hinge until it clicks into place.
The mechanism was never designed to work without any lubrication, so make sure you lubricate the new hinge ends with petroleum jelly (or similar) and lubricate regularly to ensure a long life.
Most of the problem hinges we see have never been lubricated.
